Venice Carnival, Black & White

The Carnival of Venice, is an 800 year tradition. Many costumes are seventeenth-century Venetian with some modernist interpretations by artists & dancers. Masks are important & worn by most. I viewed the spectacle through my Leica film camera as a mysterious Black and White Celebration, with accents of eroticism. Masks hide individual identities and seemed to liberate behavior. The Series is called “Venice, Black & White Celebration.”
